People of all ages can suffer from foot pain. Orthotics are specialised arch supports that can give stability and assist in giving shock absorption to your feet. These can be custom designed for your foot type or provided as an off-the-shelf device. Orthotics may help to ease the pain from flat feet, bunions, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, osteoarthritis of the big toe, ankle, hip, knee or lower back. Prescribing orthotics is a specialised training and I have trained in Biomechanics and Orthotic Prescription.
Orthotics
Approach
Here at the clinic, you will undergo a detailed BioMechanical assessment. Details such as footwear, activity levels, body weight and foot type will be noted. This will help decide if you need an orthotic, or a change in footwear or a personalised strengthening, flexibility and balance training programme or all three.
The success of your orthotic device is dependent on your compliance with your wearing instructions, choice of footwear and adherence to your personalised exercise programme.
Orthotic consultations cannot be booked online. For further information or to make a booking for a Foot Evaluation please email anne@athlonephysio.ie or phone 09064 92593
